A stump machine is used to grind the stump into mulch.

The large stump machine is trailed behind a truck. The truck and machine need to back up to the stump. This machine will grind 12 inches below the surface. The root ball is usually no deeper than 12 inches.

The smaller stump machine is self propelled and can fit through an opening of at least 36 inches wide. This machine will grind the stump 6 to 12 inches below the surface.

We grind the diameter of the stump plus an additional foot to reach the underlying large roots. The diameter of grinding can be increased to remove unsightly or annoying surface roots.

The resulting mulch from the grinding is back filled into the hole. The mulch will settle back into the ground over time.

The mulch can be removed and replaced with topsoil and seed for an additional charge.
